The Reinosa Steel Plant’s melting shop is an integral part of our operations. Our total vertical integration process of transforming melted scrap into high-quality, finished products makes us a single point of contact for complete manufacturing from start to finish. The Reinosa Steel Plant’s melting shop runs a 90-ton electric arc furnace and secondary metallurgical facilities to achieve the best quality steel. We manufacture ingots from 3 to 150 tons and liquid steel up to 260 tons per mold. Because we melt scrap as our principle raw material, we reduce energy required for production, reduce CO2 emissions, and recycle more than 100,000 tons of iron scrap each year. We transform scrap items no longer needed by the community into new commercial steel products, which recycles industrial waste and reduces landfill waste.

At the Reinosa Steel Plant, our melting shop has the following equipment:

  • Heat capacity: 90 t/heat
  • Buckets per heat: 2 or 3 charges
  • Combined up to 240 tons.
  • Shell diameter X height: 5486 mm X 3015 mm
  • Tapping: EBT

  • VAD (Revamped in 2008)
  • Capacity: 75t/Heat / 54-150 T
  • LF
  • Vacuum System:
    • VD B: 4 x Steam Ejectors
    • VD A: 4 x Steam Ejectors
      • 3 x Water Ring Pumps
